Razer Phone specs leak

Razer Phone specs leak: 8 GB RAM, 4,000 mAh battery, Dolby ATMOS sound

Arriving from a collaboration between gaming hardware company Razer, and the folks who brought us the Nextbit Robin the Razer phone is one of the more exciting Android products on the horizon. It’s a brand new product category for Razer and we’ve caught only a couple of glimpses of it so far, but thanks to a listing on a recent carrier website, we might now know some of its specs.

The Razer phone can be seen on the 3G UK website (as spotted by someone over at Reddit) and is currently shown as out of stock. It features a low-fi product image for the time being — presumably just a placeholder — and is lacking some key details like screen resolution and SoC, but it does have some useful info; check out what’s on offer below.
  • 5.72-inch IGZO display with 120 Hz refresh rate and Wide Colour Gamut (WCG)
  • Dolby ATMOS sound, dual front-facing speakers and amplifiers (certified by THX)
  • Dual camera with auto-focus and LED flash (12 MP, F/1.75 wide-angle and 13 MP, F/2.6 zoom camera)
  • Long-life 4,000 mAh lithium-ion battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+
  • 8 GB RAM – enough for the most demanding games and apps
  • 4G Super-Voice

  • ASUS ZenFone 4 family

There are some impressive numbers here for enthusiasts, 8 GB of RAM is beyond what most of the current flagship smartphones offer, and a 4,000 mAh battery is on the larger side of the scale, too. Similarly, the THX-certified Dolby ATMOS sound pumping out of dual-speakers is a premium feature that you won’t find on many smartphones — really, this is as close to a true “phablet” as you’re likely to get.

ZTE Axon M Full specification

As for what 4G Super-Voice is, 3G UK describes it as a way to help you make calls and send messages in low coverage areas. Here’s an explainer video on it, if you’re interested.
Razer has an announcement coming tomorrow where it is expected to unveil the new Razer Phone. Who’s excited? Let us know in the comments.

Nokia 2 first impressions: Big focus on battery, stock Android

Nokia 2 first impressions: Big focus on battery, stock Android

The Nokia-brand is making a comeback in the mobile phone market in 2017 thanks to Finnish startup HMD Global. So far the company has launched the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6, Nokia 8, and the reincarnated version of 3310 in the market. However, its most recent Nokia 2 overcomes any issues amongst cell phones and highlight telephones. Nokia 2 is gone for first-time cell phone purchasers, the portion the organization accepts has the requesting profile. As indicated by the organization's own investigation, the sub-$150 fragment contributes around 30 for each penny of numbers in India. That is most likely the motivation behind why the organization picked India as the worldwide launchpad to stamp the introduction of Nokia 2.

While it isn't by difficult to get a spending telephone in the Rs 7,000 value point, the organization asserts the Nokia 2 has some unique highlights that will settle the key torment focuses shoppers look in their everyday life. We attempted the Nokia 2 at the worldwide dispatch occasion, and here's our early introductions.

Xperia R1 and R1 Plus Reviews

Nokia 2 first impressions Design, Display

If you care about the design and cherish to get a high-end looking device, the Nokia 2 may be for you. The design of the phone will draw attention – after all, there aren’t many phones in this segment that focus on the aesthetics. Nokia 2 is heavily inspired by the company’s existing portfolio, which includes the likes of Nokia 3, Nokia 6, among others. The phone has an aluminum frame, while the back has a polycarbonate build. The device easily sits in the hand, but the lack of a fingerprint scanner will disappoint many. Nokia 2 comes in three colour options: pewter/black, pewter/white, and copper/black.

Nokia 2 sports a 5-inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The low resolution display does mean that you will spot pixels compared to a FHD panel, but considering the price of the phone one shouldn’t get surprised.

Nokia 2 first impressions Hardware, Software

Nokia 2 is powered by a Snapdragon 212 processor coupled with 1GB RAM, 8GB storage, and a microSD card slot. Performance of the Nokia 2 isn’t going to be spectacular, if you already own a smartphone. However, for a first time user, Nokia 2 is not going to disappoint. During my limited testing, I was able to open apps fairly smoothly. Mind you; the phone will struggle to run heavy graphics intensive apps and games such as Asphalt 8 and Real Racing 3. Nokia 2 is squarely aimed at those users who are opening up to Facebook and Twitter for the first time.

Nokia 2 first impressions Camera

Those who’ll get the Nokia 2 may not be looking at the top-level performance, and that’s fine. There’s an 8MP camera on the rear and a 5MP shooter in the front. In good lighting, Nokia 2’s back camera can take good shots, and for an 8MP sensor that’s fairly acceptable. The front camera seems to have a similar quality.

ZTE Axon M Full specification

Available online November 1 and in stores on the 17th.

ZTE's Axon M is undeniably one of the most unique phones to be announced so far in 2017, and while the real-world functionality of the gadget's dual-screen setup remains to be seen, it's still exciting to see a manufacturer take a risk and try something new. ZTE previously announced that the Axon M would be available for purchase in November, but we now have a more exact timeline as to when AT&TPcustomers will be able to get their hands on the device.

The Axon M will be available for purchase through AT&T's website starting on Wednesday, November 1, and the device will then make its way to physical stores on November 17.
You'll be able to purchase the phone outright or through AT&T Next with 30 monthly payments of $24.17, and for that price, ZTE and AT&T will be faced with a tough sell. Getting the Galaxy S8 on AT&T Next only costs $25/month, the V30 goes for $27/month, and the G6 can be yours for just $19.50/month.
Having two screens to work with instead of just one is undeniably a cool trick, but once all is said and done, you'll be paying $725.10 for that privilege.

The Axon M certainly won't be for everybody, but for those interested in trying out ZTE's latest experiment, you won't have to wait too much longer before getting your hands on the phone.

7 Tips On How To Become A Competent Software Engineer

7 Tips On How To Become A Competent Software Engineer

This article is a collection of tips aimed at young engineers just starting in the industry .
First Impression Matters
Always start out on a good note on a new job. Don’t be late, don’t be a dick, and don’t immediately start going on about why we need to move away from framework X.

Resist the temptation of trying to prove yourself on every chance you got. There are better, humbler ways of doing it. Read on.
Know How To Make Good Estimates
Identifying bodies of work and making estimates easily amounts to half of the communication between the tech and the businesses.
An estimate boils down to two things: when do you think it will be done, and how confident are you on hitting that date.
It is a skill you need to hone from experience, but I’ve got two tips:
  • The bigger the chunk of work, the harder it is to estimate. I would always split a big task into smaller pieces, each of the size of 1–3 days worth of work.
  • If you said it will take a week, they will ask, “OK, can you to do it in 3 days?”. Always be prepared to justify your estimate.
Ownership
Own the service. Own the domain. Understand the business reason behind the service.

Identify problems and initiate improvements. Little by little. Don’t try to save the day.
It may take a while for you to feel that you actually own it. I guess it’s a bit like adopting a stray dog, you kind of feel for him a little at the beginning but you’ll grow more attached as time goes.
On the off chance that your administration goes down or a basic bug is discovered — stop whatever pleasant component or intriguing building crap you're right now on to, and settle it. This is hard working attitude 101. It is difficult and takes a specific level of development. You should get accustomed to it.

There will be things occurring as an afterthought that may influence your zone and you have to keep them on your watch.

For instance, your administration is sitting tight for a usefulness as of now being chipped away at by another person. Either pursue him/her (considerately) or do it without anyone else's help. Continuously endeavor to get this show on the road.
Strike A Good Balance Between Interesting Work And Important Work
Interesting works are those that are intellectually challenging. Think algorithm optimization, data structure work or artificial intelligence. It will definitely improve technical proficiency. It may or may not improve your service.

Important works are those that allow the company to pay our paycheck. Think of system integration with business partners or tweaking marketing templates so they look good across devices.
Sometimes, the most important work is not the most interesting.
We are engineers and we live to take on hard problems. However, we do have to balance between doing what’s fun and what’s important.
Strike A Good Balance Between Going In-Depth and Going Wide
Young engineers will want to have a 360° view of software engineering.
Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that you’re a front-end guy. Or back-end. Or DevOps. Learn all these areas, at least to some extent.
Don’t get me wrong. You will want to specialize. However, my point is to make sure you have some knowledge of the other aspects to some extent. Because in the long run, it will help you become a better engineer.
Remember, there is no such thing as a front-end engineer or backend engineer. There is only an engineer. An engineer’s job is to solve problems, so do it.
What Your Employer Wants From You
Details will vary from job to job and companies, but some things stay true no matter where you are:
  • Nobody likes a moaner. Don’t moan because they get you to “update the wording of 15 different templates”, or any other kind of menial work. Moan a lot and you’ll see your peers climb up the career ladder faster than you’ll ever be. You don’t want to take on these jobs every single time, but there are better ways to get the good work besides moaning.
  • Deliver. “It is finished, just waiting to be merged to master” means it is not finished. Merged to master plus deployed to staging / production is. Your employer will appreciate it if when you said it’s “done”, it actually is.
  • Know key figures related to your domain. It will give a strong impression that you know your shit. Yes, it applies to software engineering. It goes without saying that fudging is the worst thing you can do. If you don’t know just say so, followed by “Give me 10 minutes to look it up”.
…And What They Would Rather Not
  • When a critical issue arises, don’t hide ‘em. Tell your boss straight up that something isn’t working properly and you’re on it. Tell the business you can’t take on any other work before this issue is resolved.
  • Don’t over-promise on delivery. The business gave you work you think can be done in 3 days. Promise them 6, not 2. Because hey, other things will come up and it’ll take you 5 days anyway. But you promised them 6, which means you will still “exceed expectation” and therefore is “excellent at estimating”.

Final Tip
Do not. Delete. Production database.
